Hydra House Books offers formatting and layout services for books of all types. If you’ve got a manuscript that needs to be formatted for uploading to a printer or one of the many print-on-demand services, we’re here to help you. We also do ebook conversions if your book is digital-only.

Print layout

Services include print formatting in InDesign to create a PDF file that conforms to the standards set for Amazon’s KDP and Ingram’s LightningSource or Ingram Spark. We can also create files that conform to other print services, as needed. We artfully layout the text using an appropriate typeface and margins to create a book eyecatching and easy to read.

Ebook conversion

Hydra House can also create ebooks that validate to EPUB2 and EPUB3 standards. If you need a cover, we can help with that, too.

Cover design

Hydra House can create a cover for you (front and back, including dust jackets) that’s also print ready. Note that cover art is different from cover design. Cover art must be procured separately, but we will work with your art to create a beautiful design that includes titling and any text.

Publishing guidance

Many people already know how to navigate the mazes and byways of uploading books to KDP or Ingram for publishing, but sometimes it’s overwhelming and frustrating to navigate. We’re happy to offer advice where we can, and for a fee we’ll do the work for you.

ISBNs

We don’t offer ISBNs, but we can provide guidance on how to get them. ISBNs aren’t always necessary, but we’ll assist you in obtaining one.

Any book formatted by Hydra House will not appear as a publication of Hydra House; we only provide format and layout services. Any ISBNs used must be registered in the name of yourself or another business entity.

Fees

Print format and layout (up to 500 pages): $300

Each inside image: $10 (includes resizing and optimization)

Cover design: Print book, $200 (for hardcover or softcover, or both, includes ebook); Ebook only, $100 (Note that cover design includes typesetting but not artwork)

Publishing guidance: $250 (Includes setting up ISBN information and uploading files to respective publishing outlets)
