FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hydra House is pleased to announce the upcoming release of an as-yet-untitled anthology of work by Clarion West Writers Workshop graduates, edited by award-winning editor Ellen Datlow. Hydra House is publishing this anthology in recognition of the 30th anniversary of Clarion West.

The anthology features reprints of short fiction by graduates who have received prestigious awards and critical acclaim, and each story will include a brief afterword by one of the instructors who taught a week of that graduate’s workshop.

The book will be launched during the Spring of 2013, and will be available in hardcover, trade paperback, and ebook formats, as well as a special lettered edition.

Editor Ellen Datlow’s many award-winning publications include The Best Horror of the Year, Naked City, After, and the forthcoming Queen Victoria’s Book of Spells (the final two with Terri Windling). Datlow is currently a consulting editor for Tor.com and is the former fiction editor of Omni magazine and SciFi.com.

The Clarion West Writers Workshop focuses on speculative fiction (primarily science fiction and fantasy) and presents a six-week workshop each summer. Eighteen writers from around the world are selected to participate and live together under one roof for six weeks, and each week is led by a different instructor. In addition, Clarion West presents monthly one-day workshops, a summer reading series, and a Write-a-thon which encourages writers to create new work and raises money for Clarion West.

The 2013 summer workshop runs June 23-August 2, and this year’s instructors are Elizabeth Hand, Neil Gaiman, Joe Hill, Justina Robson, Ellen Datlow, and Samuel R. Delany. Applications are now being accepted through March 1, 2013.

Cover art for the anthology will be donated by Chesley award-winning artist Todd Lockwood.

All proceeds from the sale of the anthology will be donated to the Clarion West Writers Workshop.
